Everyday Glory

OPENING PRAYER:

God, thank You for this quiet moment before the day gets loud. Settle my heart here with You before I move into Your Word. Amen.

READ: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33 (NLT)

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Don’t give offense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of God. I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved.” 1 Corinthians 10:31-33 (NLT)

REFLECT:

On a sweltering summer afternoon, a delivery driver named Marcus pulled up to an elderly man's farm. As he carried a heavy package to the porch, the man stepped out with two ice-cold lemonades. What began as a routine delivery became a refreshing fifteen-minute conversation. As Marcus was leaving, he turned back: "Why did you do this?" The elderly man simply said, "Jesus taught us that how we treat others matters to God." Marcus nodded. "I've heard about Jesus my whole life, but this is the first time I've wanted to know more."

This is what Paul meant: "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Paul erases the line between sacred and secular. Even the most routine moments can glorify God. The way you respond to frustration, treat workers, or perform when no one's watching—each becomes a chance to reveal Christ.

Paul connects glorifying God with how we impact others: "I don't just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved." Glorifying God is inherently others-focused. When we truly care about someone's eternity, we think differently—we let go of preferences, choose words with care, consider how our conduct shapes others' view of Christ.

Many Christians live divided lives—behaving one way at church and another elsewhere. This compartmentalization destroys our witness. Paul calls us to an integrated life where every action becomes an opportunity to glorify God and draw others to Him.

This week, look for ordinary moments to make Jesus' love visible: how you treat a cashier, your response to a family member's mistake, your attitude toward challenging work. You may be the only Bible some people ever read. Make sure your life tells the true story.

APPLY:

PRAY FOR YOUR ONE

  • 1. Ask God to make you conscious today of the ordinary moments where your life either points your One toward Him or away from Him.
  • 2. Pray for an opportunity to serve your One in a tangible, practical way this week—without agenda, just genuine care.
  • 3. Ask God to reveal any area where your actions are creating a barrier rather than a bridge for your One.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for the privilege of representing You in every ordinary moment. Help me glorify You in the small things — my attitude, my words, my patience — even when no one's watching. May my life be a light that draws people toward You, one everyday moment at a time. In Your name, Amen.
