For a long time, Renee was someone much of our city walked past. She was living on the streets, caught in addiction, and cut off from everyone around her. She was angry, too, asking where God could possibly be in all of it. Then, on her birthday in 2025, with nowhere else to turn, Renee quietly cried out to God for some reason to hope. Not long after, she walked into Pathway’s Recovery Hub for the first time and found coffee, friendly faces, sober people, and real help. “There’s help, there’s hope, and I’ve been there,” she says now. Jesus met her there and broke the chains that held her. She’s still growing and still learning about Him, but she knows she is free, and she knows she isn’t alone.
Part of Renee’s new beginning came through something very practical. Her addiction had damaged her teeth, and the dentures she needed cost $1,600. Through CarePortal, the Pathway family raised the money, and now Renee smiles without worrying about what she used to look like. “It feels like a family,” she says. Stories like hers happen because Pathway volunteers keep showing up at the Recovery Hub and our microcampuses, bringing the good news that Jesus sees people and isn’t done with them. And they happen because a generous church keeps those doors open. Renee has received a lot of grace, and now she wants to pass that grace on to the next person. That’s what generosity makes possible: one life at a time, made new.
