When Romance Becomes an Idol

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of love and relationships. Help me to keep them in their proper place and to find my ultimate fulfillment in You alone. Amen.

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4

REFLECT:

In this week's message, Pastor Todd showed us how Jacob's pursuit of romantic love led to disappointment and deception. He thought Rachel would fix everything wrong in his life, but human love—no matter how beautiful—can never carry that weight.

Our culture constantly tells us that finding "the one" will make us complete. Social media shows us picture-perfect relationships that make us feel like we're missing out. But as Pastor Todd pointed out, "we've over-fantasized romantic love and we've way underestimated the completeness of the love of God."

Whether you're single, dating, or married, no human relationship can be your savior. Only Jesus can meet your deepest needs.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will identify one thing I've been asking to give me life, and I will surrender it to God in prayer.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, forgive me for asking human relationships to do what only You can do. Help me to receive Your perfect love so I can love others well without demanding they complete me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
