Conviction, Not Condemnation: When God Nudges Us to Act
OPENING PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, open my heart to Your gentle conviction. Let me respond to Your voice with humility and courage.
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12 (NIV)
Jesus, in His last instructions to His disciples, elevates love from a suggestion to a command, directly tying it to His own example.
REFLECT:
Conviction is a gift—a holy nudge from God, not to condemn, but to call you higher. Pastor Rodney described conviction as God stirring in you a sense that there is more, that you were made for something beyond comfort or routine. He invited us to sit with that discomfort, not to run from it.
Jesus’s command to “love each other as I have loved you” is not a suggestion or a burden, but a call to abundant life. When you feel conviction, it’s the Spirit highlighting where you can step out and bear fruit. Maybe it’s serving where you feel inadequate, forgiving someone who’s hurt you, or giving when it feels inconvenient. Let conviction move you to action, not guilt. The cross shows us that conviction always leads to life, not shame. Listen for God’s voice. Where is He calling you to go, to give, to love? The world is changed not by those who feel convicted, but by those who act on it.
APPLY:
This weekend, we talked about taking the next step—and sometimes that step is simply getting started. If you've never served at Pathway, or if it's been a while, we'd love to help you find your place. Just open the Pathway App, tap Get Involved, or visit the website at pathwaychurch.com/volunteer to explore where you could jump in. And if you're already serving, here's your challenge this week: invite someone to serve alongside you. Some of the greatest growth happens when we serve together, so don't keep that opportunity to yourself!
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will take one concrete step towards serving, or I will invite someone to serve with me.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Thank You, God, for loving me enough to convict me. Give me a heart that welcomes Your correction and hands willing to serve in response.
PRAYER REQUEST:
Share your prayer request and pray for others.
