OPENING PRAYER:
Spirit of the Living God, fill us with courage and faith. Open our eyes to the adventure of saying “yes” to You—one step at a time.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. John 15:16 (NIV)
Jesus affirms His disciples’ calling and commissioning, assuring them that their fruitfulness flows from His initiative and purpose.
REFLECT:
Rodney’s final challenge is both simple and profound: “Take a step.” Fruitful living is not for a select few—it is the invitation for every believer. Jesus says, “I chose you.” You are not an afterthought or a spare branch; you are appointed for a life of lasting impact.
It is easy to feel paralyzed by uncertainty or inadequacy, but Jesus’ commissioning leaves no room for passivity. Each step of service—large or small—matters. Rodney reminded us, “Each branch matters; each step multiplies fruit.” The adventure of faith is not about grand gestures, but about daily obedience. When you take a step, you join God in His ongoing work, and the fruit of your life may outlast your days.
Say “yes” to the next step. Trust that God is at work in you and through you, for His glory and for the good of the world.
