Your Part in the Story
OPENING PRAYER:
Father, You have invited me into the greatest story ever told—the story of Your kingdom advancing in the world. Help me understand my unique part in this story. Give me courage to say yes to what You're asking of me.
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Paul reminds the Ephesian believers that their salvation isn't just about personal rescue—it's about purposeful participation in God's work. Before time began, God prepared specific good works for each of us to walk in. We're not just saved from something; we're saved for something. Our lives are meant to be part of God's redemptive story in the world.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
REFLECT:
The message opened with a powerful reminder: "This is a story about how God is working among his children." That's what we've been exploring all week—God's work through Missions of Hope International, through Wallace and Mary Kamau, through Pathway Church, through child sponsorship. But here's the question that matters most: What's your part in this story?
Pastor Rodney connected this weekend to Pathway's 10-year vision: planting 100 churches, seeing 10,000 people come to know Jesus and be baptized, and impacting 100,000 lives for Jesus. He said, "As we talk about Missions of Hope International, they're part of church planting. And what you're going to learn today is how you and I are going to be a part of impacting one of those 100,000 lives. And that is through child sponsorship."
This is where vision becomes personal. It's one thing to hear about a big goal—100,000 lives impacted. It's another thing entirely to realize: this is my one. This is how I'm part of the 100,000. This child, this family, this community—this is the good work God prepared in advance for me to do.
Wallace said something profound when asked what he would tell Pathway family about sponsoring a child: "You know, sponsoring a child, it's a great opportunity, really, to make a difference in the life of that child and the family and changing the whole community. But it's not only that, but you get to witness what God is doing, and he uses you through your generosity." You don't just give—you get to witness. You become part of the story God is writing, and in the process, you yourself are transformed.
Rodney was honest about this: "I don't even think it's a sacrifice. It's actually a blessing. And it's a blessing for our families to be a part of what God is doing in the world." This is your invitation. However you respond—through sponsorship, prayer, or learning more—you're part of the story God is writing through Pathway.
Across Pathway this weekend, people are responding by choosing to sponsor a child. At the campuses, there were physical cards available to pick up and fill out. Through this devotional, we're able to provide you with a link that connects you to the very same opportunity.
Sponsor a Child Through Missions of Hope International
Maybe your next step is prayer. Creating space this week to pray for the children who will be sponsored. To pray for the ones still waiting. To pray for our 10-Year Vision, that God would use our church to reach the 100,000 lives we believe He’s calling us to impact.
One Child. Endless Impact.
However you respond today, you're part of the story God is writing through Pathway.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, thank You for inviting me into Your story. Thank You for preparing good works in advance for me to walk in. Give me clarity about my part in reaching 100,000 lives for Jesus. Whether through child sponsorship or another avenue of service, help me say yes to what You're asking. I want to be part of what You're doing in the world. Use my life for Your glory and for the transformation of communities that need hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.
