Love-Driven Mission

OPENING PRAYER:

Father, before anything else, remind me why I'm here. Not out of duty, but out of love for You and for the people You've placed in my life. Meet me in this moment. Amen.

READ: Matthew 22:34-40 (NLT

“But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?’

Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:34-40 (NLT

REFLECT:

Why does the same task sometimes feel like a joy and other times like a burden? The answer lies in motivation. Whether you're doing chores, finishing a work project, or sharing your faith—why you're doing it makes all the difference. When Jesus was asked to identify the greatest commandment, He answered without hesitation: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” These weren't separate calls—they're deeply connected. The Great Commission flows naturally from the Great Commandment. When we truly love God and people, sharing the gospel becomes less a religious obligation and more the natural overflow of a heart transformed by love. Too often, our evangelistic efforts suffer from a fundamental disconnect. We approach the Great Commission as a task to be completed rather than an expression of love. We share out of obligation rather than delight. We focus on techniques rather than genuine relationships. The apostle Paul got this: "For Christ's love compels us" (2 Corinthians 5:14 NIV). Not guilt. Not fear. Not obedience for its own sake. Love was the compelling force behind his tireless ministry. When we reconnect the Great Commission with the Great Commandment, everything changes. People are no longer projects—they're precious souls made in God's image. Evangelism stops feeling like a burden and starts feeling like a joy.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, thank You for loving me long before I ever loved You back. Fill me so completely with Your love that it spills over into every relationship I have — especially the one You've placed on my heart. Help me see people the way You see them — not as projects to complete, but as souls You treasure. Turn my mission from duty into delight and let the way I love others point them back to You. In Jesus' name, amen.
